Children's Choir Has New Name, Welcomes St. Aloysius Members
The Children’s Choir serving the three partner parishes of Connellsville for the past six years is changing its name to align with the unofficial name of the new four-parish Connellsville-Dunbar faith community that now includes St. Aloysius Parish in Dunbar.
The choir, formerly known as the Connellsville Catholic Community Children’s Choir, will now be known as Our Lady, Queen Of The Yough Catholic Community Children’s Choir.
Beginning with the 2018-19 choir season, the young choristers also will visit St. Aloysius Parish to sing for liturgies while continuing to share their musical talent at Masses on weekends and holidays during the school year in the Connellsville parishes of Immaculate Conception, St. Rita of Cascia and St. John the Evangelist.
All third- through sixth-graders of the four parishes are invited to join the choir. In addition, junior and senior high students are invited to join the choir as cantors and leaders of song. A special invitation is extended to young people in these grade levels from St. Aloysius Parish.
The choir will begin rehearsals in September for its new season. Rehearsals are held at 11 a.m. Saturdays in Sciberras Hall, the social hall at Immaculate Conception Church, Connellsville. A Children’s Choir registration form may be found under Music Ministry on the Our Lady, Queen of the Yough website, www.youghcatholic.org.
